The Chatty Cafe Scheme is guided by six dedicated Non-Executive Directors (NEDs). These volunteers provide strategic advice, independent oversight, and ensure the organisation stays true to its mission.
Alex – Founder & Non-Executive Director
Alex is the founder of The Chatty Cafe Scheme and a Senior Social Worker supporting adults with learning disabilities. She is passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces where everyone feels included.
Chris Wilson – Chair of the Board & Non-Executive Director
Chris is a retired corporate banker who now acts as a banking and finance consultant. Chris has been a member of various charity boards and, in addition to The Chatty Cafe Scheme, he is currently a board member of a Multi Academy Trust. He brings a calm, thoughtful approach to governance and helps keep the organisation financially strong.
Rebecca Bonner – Non-Executive Director
Rebecca has spent over 10 years supporting young people with special educational needs and holds a master’s in inclusive education. She makes sure all of our services are welcoming and accessible to everyone.
Ken Powell – Non-Executive Director
Ken ran his own business before selling it to a UK PLC. He loves using his experience to support strategy and growth at The Chatty Café Scheme.
Jon Haslam – Non-Executive Director
Jon retired from a career in financial services and has been volunteering with Chatty Café tables for four years. He also supports his local community by helping people get to medical appointments.
Tanya Edwards – Non-Executive Director
Tanya has over 20 years’ experience in marketing and communications. She helps us share our story and connect with more people across the UK.
The organisation is supported by the following staff, who manage its day-to-day operations:
Jenny – Volunteers Coordinator
Jenny oversees our volunteer programme, managing all “Chatter & Natter” table hosts. She runs training and onboarding sessions and provides ongoing support to ensure our volunteers feel confident and valued in their roles.
Abi – Operations & Partnerships Manager
Abi manages the organisation’s back-end operations and ensures its financial sustainability through grants and funding. She also oversees our corporate partnerships programme, helping us build lasting relationships that support our mission.
Linda – Volunteers Lead
Linda joined The Chatty Café Scheme as a volunteer in 2021 and now coordinates our volunteer programme. She has experience supporting adults with special educational needs and learning disabilities and previously worked as a tutor, advocate, and helpline advisor. A passionate reader, Linda loves 19th-century literature and poetry and has a collection of over 500 vintage books!
