Local cafe unite with ‘Chatty Cafe Scheme’ to combat loneliness

An Oakham-based cafe has joined the ‘Chatty Cafe Scheme’ to help combat loneliness.

Passionate about wellbeing and mental heath, Rutland Refill have joined the non-profit organisation and will be hosting regular sessions to help and support Rutland residents.

The team joined the schemed on 15 May, coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Week, 15 – 21 May. The scheme will be running every week going forwards.

The aim of the scheme is to tackle loneliness, and friendly volunteers will always join in for a nice chat.

The venue will have a table available from Monday to Saturday, 10-1pm and 2-3pm.

What is The Chatty Cafe Scheme?

The Chatty Café Scheme is the UK’s leading non-profit organisation tackling loneliness.

They offer three services, all designed to reduce loneliness and/or social isolation. They include;

They will be offering a space from Monday to Saturday where residents can pop in and sit, chat and catch up over a coffee, cake or other tasty treat from their new menu – also launched this week.

On top of this, the eco-friendly store will still be stocking and selling environmentally and cost effective dried goods, cleaning products health and beauty items, as well as food and drinks.

They also stock a range of locally produced handmade items for you to browse and buy.
