It’s my first week working for The Chatty Café Scheme and it’s great to get started and to get stuck into my new role.
My role is the Chatty Café’s Volunteer Project Manager. This will involve the recruitment, training and coordination of a network of volunteers to help deliver our aim to reduce loneliness and get people talking.
The Chatty Café Scheme encourages venues, such as cafes, pubs, libraries and community centres to designate a Chatter & Natter table. This is where customers can sit if they are happy to talk to other customers.
We’ll be working with volunteers who will help engage their local community by offering a space to have a chat at a local Chatter & Natter table. The volunteers will be assigned a venue or a group of venues in their local area to sit at the tables and help kick start conversations.
It’s a simple concept. Do you enjoy a nice cup of tea? Do you enjoy meeting new people? If so, join us as a Chatty Café Ambassador by sitting at a table in your local café for 1-2 hours per week. And your drinks will be paid for! No skills required, just the ability to enjoy having a chat.
We will be piloting this idea in the Midlands and will soon be putting out a call out for volunteers and venues in the area. If you’re reading this and would like to get involved, please contact me on: ab*@th*****************.uk
Many thanks!
