Melissa talks about paediatric care and the life-affirming impact it had on her. She also reflects on a sense of community which was once so common.

This poem is about loneliness and how the world she knew had changed beyond all recognition.
A huge thanks to Melissa for sharing this poem with The Chatty Café Scheme.

If we go back in history
And if these walls could talk
Would you believe the miracles that happen in the corridors we walk

If we go back in history
When things felt like home
When humanity was second nature
And you were never on your own

If we go back in history
Would you recognise this place
When high streets were thriving and
Community occupied this space
