About Wolverhampton Wellbeing Hub CIC

Wolverhampton Well-being Hub CIC is a non-profit organisation overseen and sponsored by Wolverhampton Wellbeing Hub and Arcare Homes. Our next stage of development aims to recreate a front room from the 1960s generation in a prime location in Bilston, Wolverhampton and Black Country.

Who is it benefitting?

The Front Room is targeted towards older people experiencing dementia and individuals who wish to retain some of their memories from the 1960s.

The organisation believes that reminiscence work is important to help aid memory and generate conversation around our past history. This approach is also known to evoke memories, stimulate mental activity, and improve well-being. This has remained consistent over the years as visitors from all age groups gather to view our historical items. Even now I find these conversations with our community fascinating.

We now have a community room (Rented Space) where the public can visit to reflect or learn about some of the histories of the 1960s. Schools are welcome to visit as part of their educational learning journey to gain an understanding of how people lived in the 1960s.

The Front Room aims to open a warm Space / Place of Welcome and social meeting space where older people can come and share their memories and engage in reminiscence activities during their attendance.

Opportunities will be given to older volunteers with lived experience to share their experiences with visitors and the younger generation on their history about some of the items on display.

Involving our Communities Involving the community in initiatives related to dementia and reminiscence work and mental well-being can be achieved through various strategies, as supported by research and best practices. Here are some ways that we plan to  involve our community:

Regular Chats and Surveys: Engage with community members through regular in-person or social media conversations to gather their input, experiences, and feedback. Conducting regular surveys can also provide valuable insights into the needs and preferences of the community.

Running Open Days: Organise open days where the community  / Educational services can visit The Front Room, learn about its initiatives, and actively participate in reminiscence activities. This can foster a sense of belonging and engagement within the community.

Local people will benefit from Local Community-Based Activities that provide:

  1. Reminiscence environment for older adults age 50+
  2. Boys 2 Men project for young adults with a diagnosis of learning disabilities between the ages of 18 to 25 in preparation for independent living and personal development.
  3. New Mothers / Parenting Groups
  4. Youth Counselling / Youth Groups
  5. Men’s Well-being Groups
