The Monastery Manchester, located in Gorton, is a Grade II* listed former Franciscan friary designed by E.W. Pugin in 1872. Known as "Manchester's Taj Mahal," this stunning High Victorian Gothic masterpiece functions today as a popular visitor attraction, unique wedding venue, and community hub dedicated to peace and wellbeing. With a lovely cafe, peaceful gardens and hosting many different wellbeing activities in line with the vision of the original residents of The Monastery – the Franciscan brothers – our beautifully renovated buildings, Welcome Café and friendly team of staff are here to offer you a safe space and healing retreat.
