About Senedd Cymru / Welsh Parliament
The Welsh Parliament, commonly known as the Senedd, is the democratically elected body that represents the interests of Wales and its people. It makes laws for Wales, agrees Welsh taxes, and holds the Welsh Government to account.
Located within one of Wales’s most iconic buildings, the Senedd features a welcoming public café where visitors can relax and enjoy stunning views over Cardiff Bay. The café offers a variety of locally sourced food and drink, including hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, cakes, and snacks. We aim to cater for all dietary requirements. Please speak to a member of staff during your visit or contact us ahead of time with any specific queries.
The venue is fully accessible and includes a dedicated play area for children. The Senedd Café is proud to have achieved the Kids in Museums Family Café Standard, ensuring a warm, inclusive experience for all visitors. As a breastfeeding friendly space, we’re happy to support your needs, whether you require a quieter area, bottle‑warming facilities, or anything else, simply speak to a member of our team.
Additional facilities at the Senedd include a gift shop featuring Welsh-made products; a variety of toilet facilities, including baby changing, gender‑neutral options, and a fully equipped Changing Places facility with an adult changing bed and hoist; free Wi‑Fi; a free water fountain; and a first aid room with a defibrillator. We are also passionate about showcasing the best of Wales through our exhibitions, developed in partnership with national organisations and Welsh communities.
As a working Parliament, all visitors are required to go through a security scan and bag search before entering the building. This process is similar to airport-style screening and is carried out by our friendly security team. While the screening process is important, visitors can always expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
