About Tonbridge Baptist Church
Open House meets every Wednesday and Friday from 10am – 12 noon. Enjoy tea and coffee, make new friends, relax and read the paper, or perhaps play games such as scrabble. Our team are happy to chat with anyone who comes along, and, if it would be helpful, will point you in the direction of organisations that could be of further support.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays our Day Centre runs from 10am – 3pm at the cost of £20. We do have a bursary for those people that would struggle to pay this full amount, and this can be discussed further. We take seniors with low to medium needs. We are an active group, and each day consists of a chatty hour at 10am, followed with a morning activity, a two course freshly prepared nutritional meal suitable for all dietary requirements The afternoon we have another activity and a cuppa. Our activities range from bowling, bingo, arts & craft projects, local school intergenerational projects, quizzes, singing, exercise and so much more.
The energy crisis and rapidly changing finances we are all facing is hitting many people hard. At TBC we understand that sometimes a hot meal, with good company, can make all the difference, and so our Lunch Club – a two course hot meal for those over the age of 50 with tea or coffee, meets on Tuesdays at 12:15pm with a table quiz and occasional entertainment following lunch. We want everyone to be able to attend, regardless of your financial circumstances, so we will not be charging for lunch. If your circumstances allow a voluntary donation of up to £5 per person would be appreciated.
We also partner with Great Strides to run weekly exercise classes on Thursday mornings. The goal of Great Strides is to reduce the risk of falls for vulnerable people, increases strength, flexibility and balance which enables those seniors who attend to regain the confidence to venture out of the house and socialise.
We have wonderful opportunities for volunteers to help at all our groups.
