Trying our best like every one else at the moment! – By Alex

You may know us from our work getting Chatter & Natter tables into cafes up and down the UK. In case you need a refresh, Chatter & Natter tables are where customers can sit if they are happy to talk to other customers. We are trying to kickstart conversations, get people chatting and reduce loneliness along the way. That was all going great until Covid hit – now most of our lovely venues are temporarily closed and Chatter & Natter tables are having to wait until social distancing is a thing of the past. 

During this period we could have sat back and waited until the amazing venues re-opened but we didn’t, instead we have thrown ourselves into doing what we do best – connecting people!

For the past few months we have been running online Zoom Virtual Chatty Cafes! We do them on Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s at 1pm and everyone is welcome, if you are a bit unsure about technology don’t worry, Jenny will help you get started on Zoom and run through everything with you. These zoom sessions are for anyone age 18 and over, there is no agenda – just chat and company, interactions and feel good vibes. We are even doing one on Xmas Eve and Xmas day at 1pm!

During Covid we have also set up a volunteer programme where we match volunteers to people who feel they could benefit from a weekly phone call full of chatter. Our volunteer manager Abi inducts each volunteer, checks in with them and makes sure they feel supported and valued. We receive referrals from social prescribers and community connectors all over the UK, people can also refer themselves. 

These two services – the Zoom Virtual Chatty Cafes and weekly phone calls are absolutely fantastic and they are making a very real difference to peoples lives. 

We want to shout about them because we are SO proud!
